Take your practice to the next level as we explore kick-your-asana conditioning. Inversion training and awesome acrobatic techniques. We will build progressively towards hand to hand and standing acrobatics. Please check out the prerequisite video. This week is not for the faint of heart.

Denver Aikikai proudly announces the return of one of our most popular events: Self Defense with Cyndy Hayashi shihan!
Cyndy Hayashi is a 7th degree black belt in Aikido. She has successfully defended herself in situations at work, home and in the street. This unique 3 hour workshop offers practical information in a light-hearted fun atmosphere. The class will be tailored to the wants and needs of participants but will explore principles of self defense, including how to stay calm and think clearly under duress, how to deter an attacker before they engage, and how to keep yourself safe while exiting dangerous situations. No prior experience with martial arts is necessary.
Ages 10+ welcome. Dress in loose comfortable clothing with socks. We will be working from standing and ground positions.

Dan Messisco (6th Dan ASU) has been training in martial arts since 1964. His martial arts background includes extensive training in both Korea and Japan. He earned his Chodan in Tang Soo Do in Korea and studied under Hwang Kwan Jang Nim, son of Grand Master Hwang Kee. In Japan, his training includes time at Hombu dojo in Tokyo, Japan. Messisco Sensei studied under Mitsugi Saotome Shihan in Sarasota, Florida where he earned his Shodan (ASU). He also studied under Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan in Boulder, Colorado where he received his Nidan and Sandan rank (ASU). He received his Aikikai Yondan in Japan, Godan while studying in Pennsylvania, and Rokudan while in Michigan.

Denver Aikikai welcomes Kay Sandacz sensei to the dojo June 19-21, 2015.
Kay Sandacz began practicing aikido in 1987 and has trained at Inaka Dojo in Beecher, IL since it opened in 1992. During that time she frequently attended seminars with Saotome sensei and Ikeda Sensei, among others. She finds aikido a continually intriguing exploration of connections and relationships. Kay currently holds the rank of yondan through Aikido Schools of Ueshiba.
